Apr 18, Long time H80i user original h80i version, whats different in this “new” one? Now I’m using it with a moderately over clocked x 8 cores and two of the new Noctura “industrial” rpm fans. Here comes a shameless plug for Asus Fan Xpert: An amazing program especially when it comes to building a silent PC. It will find the controllable range for up to 4 pairs of fans, and you then set “silent, standard, turbo, or full speed” profile in the software.
The range on these new nocturas is RPM the stock corsairs range was But they are dead silent up to RPM. When running stress tests, the fans spool up to an audible but not at all distracting level not at home so cant get the exact RPM now and the CPU maxes out about C. The silent fan profile is quite lenient in what it “considers” to be “high” CPU temps, if I remember right they aggressively spool up over 70C. During “heavy” gaming far cry 4 and Elite Dangerous the fans never spool over about RPM and the case is near silent and you certainly couldn’t hear them with the game sounds anyway.
Anyway, Fan Xpert promotion over. I’m very happy with the H80i paired with the nocturas and Fan Xpert.

November 4, in Fans Tags: While fan specs are helpful, like pumps they represent how the fan performs in an artificial open air and unmounted condition without any restriction, mounting vibrations, or undervolting effects. In addition there are many different mathematical methods in which noise levels are calculated Removal of ambient noise and measured making the task of comparing fans based on specs alone for a radiator application a best guess.
In addition, those testing conditions do not include vibration created noises that exist once a fan is mounted to a radiator. Many fans also exhibit motor ticks or harmonics at some voltage levels other than 12V when using a fan controller. That brings me to the purpose of this test, to test in a more real world like radiator scenario without any adjustments to noise levels and record it for your own review.
I will be getting an Asus Z87 Maximus VI formula mobo (all 4 pin headers) and a Haswell K CPU. Can I use the CPU mobo fan headers for this Corsair Hi?
Had us worried but tests are perfect! I’ve developed my build with no problems: We find the RGB is much more live and vivid. Bobplay 1 Build 2 points 8 months ago Just curious, why did you go with the waterforce cards and not do a custom watercooling loop? I feel like that would tie this build all together, and allow more breathing room for everyone to see all the amazing parts inside better! Agree that hard tubing would have done the build much more justice.
Maybe v2 might have it! Cheers for the comment. Just wondering about the radiators of the graphics cards, have they been arrange as HD fans at the front, then radiator, then another fan behind it? Didn’t realise you could have this arrangement, thought it just sat behind the main fan! Thinking of getting this card myself and was worried my LL ‘s might not be good enough fans for the radiators, but if I can have a LL , the radiator then another fan that would be more beneficial right?

The entire box was wrapped in a shrink wrap plastic to keep everything shut and nice. Throughout the packaging, you will find everything in English and several other languages. Spinning onto the back side, you will find a chart that shows a comparison of a k overclocked to 4. Corsair made sure to let you know that the stock HSF failed this test!

This is an excellent cooler. I run an i7 k, and i’ve never gotten it above 60c even under stress tests, and that’s with the fans at minimum speed and the heatsink paste that came pre-applied with it. At full speed the fans are rather loud, so if you’re in a warm room they might get a bit noisy. The radiator also likes to collect dust, but that’s probably just par for the course, a compressed air can cleans it out in no time flat. It’s totally sealed, so you don’t need to worry about filling, leaks, cleaning the internals, buying all the fittings, bending pipe, or replacing individual parts.
Now onto the bad and the ugly. I bought this version because of the corsair link functionality, but sadly i’m personally not impressed. It crashes all the time for me, and the cooler doesn’t “remember” it’s settings. If i set it in the software to run the fans at full speed constantly and light the logo up red and then restart the pc, it forgets those settings until you launch the software again.
You also need the software running to adjust the cooler’s settings.

After a solid five years on my old i based system, it was time to move on It turns out I had so much to say about this new build that it’s simply too much for a single blog post, so I broke it into two parts. In this first post, I list all the different parts I used in my new computer, and then I go into detail about the hardware and BIOS configuration steps I performed.
With the fans mounted to the radiator it is a tight fit to get the Hi into place, but there is just enough clearance to make it happen. At this stage we will hook up our Corsair Link cables for both the Hi and the AXi and work a little bit on our cable management before going further.
CPU has worked flawlessly since the first start automatically turbo boosting itself to 4. Motherboard Absolutely fantastic motherboard for the price, great GUI interface, haven’t had any troubles and it colour matches the build perfectly. Many headaches working out what frequency it was running at due to CPU-Z reporting just shy of Mhz while Windows 8. Storage Works great, hasn’t slowed down and doesn’t stutter. Video Card Great card, not so great drivers. Arma 3 crashes often due to a known driver issue where the display driver crashes then “recovers”.
However the computer is left un-operable after this and needs to be restarted. Case Case is absolute eye candy however design slightly restricts airflow from front 3x mm fans. Operating System You either love it or you hate it, but once you install Classic Shell to snatch back the original start button UI, it is a great Operating System. Fixed with driver update from TP-Link website, has been fine ever since. Case Fan Used as an exhaust, its connected directly to the case fan header running at full speed with no noticeable noise.
Case Fan Used on radiator, works great and is relatively quiet.

The Platinum series is basically a new variation of the Pro series that came out in January with a handful of key changes that mainly revolve around the fans and pump head. For starters the pump and block technology used on this series is from CoolIT Systems. The Pro series was based on Asetek technology, so the core components of this new series are very different.
Corsair explained to us that when they designed the Pro AIO liquid cooler series that it was done so from a quiet performance standpoint for the workloads by normal desktop users. The new Platinum series takes performance up a notch thanks to fans with higher operating ranges, a new pump head design, and some minor radiator changes.
This is a good thing as more cooling performance is always welcomed as AMD and Intel keep adding more cores to desktop processors!
The model fan that is included is Corsair’s SPL fan. These fans will push up approximately 77 CFMs with a max speed RPMs, all while having a noise level of dBa.

I found the build quality to be very good. It comes with a flawless finish that everyone will appreciate and is a great choice for anyone who wants to show off their rigs inside. If you live where dust is only a long term problem, you could use it unmodified.
Feb 20, · Hello, I just bought a corsair axi PSU. I also own a Hi cpu water cooler from corsair. I am wondering if i can skip hooking up the hi via USB if .
We have a winner! The ML Pro ended up the least loud of the fans tested so far and while everyone is affected by sound signatures differently, I did not hear any bearing noise with PWM control for those that will inevitably ask. Do note that my initial few samples of the EK FF were inconsistent so this test was done with a new, retail sample which performed more consistently and uniformly, and I am more confident about this sample than the others previously tested. Given people will ask for comparisons with other fans, I made another chart comparing some of the RPM rated top performing fans here: It does great when up against lower air flow restriction, and Noctua is an air cooler product company after all.
This is basically what I believe Corsair was targeting all along anyway. Prices are identical from other retailers including Amazon and Newegg at this time. I proposed earlier that Corsair was aiming this fan at Noctua and it did better, but then again so do many other fans. Packaging and included accessories are good in general, and build quality is top notch. The swappable corners are neat as well, but no information is available at this time regarding pricing or retail availability.
NEXT Kraken x62 or Corsair H115i ?
I went budget on several things and still did a good job. I had decided to go White with my second Back up System. Three were already blue LED and that was nice. I had more blue fans sitting around but I had decided to go RGB later so I built it with the installed fans for the base and break in. The case description states that it can handle a water cooler and after receiving it.
Hi fan hookup question Clayjn Jan 20, , AM I have an Hi I want to hook up the fans to a separate power block where I have all my case fans hooked up (non monitored).
